Pristine beaches, clear blue waters, swing bridges, natural and cultural history. Everything the Park has to offer!

After a short cruise along the coast, we start this walk at the historic community of Torrent Bay, the only one of its kind in the Park. The route then meanders deep into the native forest, over the spectacular Falls River swing bridge and on to the golden beach at Bark Bay where we stop for lunch (and an optional swim). We then venture inland and walk through tea tree, rimu and tree fern groves, before returning to the coast and the historic Tonga Quarry. The route is steeped in history of the first Maori and European settlers, and the birth of the National Park. We finish with a leisurely and comfortable cruise back along the coastline to Kaiteriteri. The breathtaking views, and the diversity of natural and cultural history, make this one of the best walks in the Park, and one of the guides favourites!
