The ultimate Abel Tasman experience - one day walk and one day kayak deep in the National Park

If you have two days to spare, a walking and kayaking combination gives you the best that the Abel Tasman National Park has to offer. This combination is graded ‘moderate’ and is for experienced walkers.

Day One - Guided Walk

Torrent Bay to Tonga Quarry - After a short cruise along the coast, we start this walk at the historic community of Torrent Bay, the only one of its kind in the Park. The route then meanders deep into the native forest, over the spectacular Falls River swing bridge and on to the golden beach at Bark Bay where we stop for lunch (and an optional swim). We then venture inland and walk through tea tree, rimu and tree fern groves, before returning to the coast and the historic beach at Tonga Quarry. The route is steeped in history of the first Maori and European settlers, and the birth of the National Park. We finish with a leisurely and comfortable cruise back along the coastline to Kaiteriteri. The breathtaking views, and the diversity of natural and cultural history, make this one of the best walks in the Park, and one of the guides favourites!

Day Two - Guided Kayak

Cruise to Torrent Bay Lodge, then explore some of the best kayaking in the Park. Tranquil lagoons, secluded beaches, forested headlands, fur seals and kayak sailing! Finally, we relax and enjoy the comfortable cruise back to Kaiteriteri.
